May 23rd marked the start of Water Saving Week. The week is hosted by waterwise – an independent, not-for-profit UK NGO focused on reducing water consumption in the UK. Their vision is that water will be used wisely, every day, everywhere.
In light of raising awareness of this important week, TPA have offered some insight into one of the ways in which they reduce water usage across both their Worksop & Lesmahagow depots. TPA take pride in the condition of their kit, one of the many reasons' kit is thoroughly washed upon return to depot.
With this in mind, TPA thought up an innovative way to harvest rainwater via the workshop roof. The process is a simple as the following 3 steps:
When discussing the rainwater harvesting system utilised at TPA, Jason Roberts (Operations Manager) said:
“The ability to harvest rainwater and reduce our water-usage is a great advantage for both our business & the environment.”
The tanks gathering the water hold 20,000 litres each, with 3 of them featuring at the Worksop depot. This simple, yet effective, concept is assisted by a mains water feed. The tanks are used every day, so don’t be surprised if you catch the team at TPA completing their daily “rain dance” around the workshop.
